With engagement announcements flying from left, right and centre, it almost seems like the latest fashion trend is to have a ring on your finger. Having a few of my close friends recently engaged, along with a significant amount of others that have already tied the knot, it’s apparent that a fairytale ending does exist – open to interpretation.
What does that mean for the rest of us? Singledom! The quest to find our ‘Happily Ever After’. You start off with no dates, making you want dates, but then you get bad dates, which makes you swear off dating for good, leaving you back at square one. And the vicious dating cycle continues…
You know that saying ‘Don’t shit where you eat’?! Believe it or not, there are quite a few people who have ended up in serious relationships through hooking up at work. So never say never. You can mix business with pleasure! It all depends on how discreet you are during the initial stages.
There are many different avenues of meeting people, be it through mutual friends, uni, work, gym, clubs, parties, bus stops, supermarkets, heck even internet dating has become the norm in this day and age. The possibilities are endless, giving hope to all those in search for the perfect companion. I personally think the best way to meet someone is through a mutual friend, that way you know the screening has already been done for you. Unless you like to befriend psychos and the like, then you’re in serious trouble!
So going back to the definition of a fairytale ending. What constitutes a fairytale ending? Finding the one and getting married? Or does it extend further than that like having kids? Being successful? Buying a home? Seeing the world? Life is what you make it so whatever the case, seek comfort in knowing that happiness is just around the corner.
Till next time…Outskies!
