Brother Marcus – Angel

Wander a few minutes walk from Angel tube station and you’ll find Brother Marcus – a cosy restaurant serving up delicious Mediterranean small plates with Greek influences. Unlike it’s sister restaurant in Balham that only specialises in brunch, this joint offers all-day dining with an evening menu guaranteed to excite your taste buds.

Enjoy a selection of dishes that are jam packed full of flavour in a relaxed and chilled out environment. Courgette fritters, lamb kofta and the tiger prawns are a must try.

My personal fave was the cracked pork belly; mouth-watering bite sized cubes with crispy crackling that was absolutely on point. Metaxa (a Greek spirit) and date glazed chunks of belly on a bed of apple labneh was next level!

Another winner was the burnt aubergine – don’t be put off by the name, it’s actually char-grilled to achieve that smokiness flavour and smothered in a combo of tahini and mango sauce…topped off with a luscious egg yolk. Given this resembled a twist on a deconstructed baba ganoush, I was surprised that it didn’t come with any bread of some sort, so be sure to order some Lagana or pita bread to mop up all those wonderful flavours.

A pleasant surprise was the heritage tomato salad – sounds basic on paper but it was delish: fresh, light and ever so tasty….also much needed to balance out the heaviness of the other rich dishes.

A great spot for catching up with friends or an intimate date. Expect delectable and interesting flavour combinations served by friendly and super attentive staff.

Food + drinks + service = £40-£45pp

Till next time…Outskies!
